Jailed small migrant boat pilot should be deported 'as soon as possible', ex-Immigration Minister says

A former Immigration Minister has called for the deportation of a jailed pilot of a small migrant boat "as soon as possible".

Speaking to GB News, Kevin Foster said his crimes are "appalling" and as "serious as you can get".

He said: "The question now becomes when is this man going to go?

"And a lot of that will boil down to good old human rights lawyers will probably try and argue some sort of inhuman treatment he's going to get or his right to a family life or whatever, when in reality he's committed an appalling crime.

"He should be out of this country as quickly as possible, particularly if we can agree for him to spend a nice bit of time in a Tajikistan jail rather than one of our own."
