Vice President JD Vance joked Thursday that he was a different vice president than Kamala Harris, because he was not drunk before he started speaking.
Vance spoke about his vice presidency in an interview with radio host Vince Coglianese who asked him how he was 'doing the job differently' than Harris
’Well, I don’t have four shots of Vodka before every meeting, that’s one way I think that Kamala really tried to bring herself into the role is these word salads,' Vance said laughing.
'I think I would need the help of a lot of alcohol to answer questions the way Kamala Harris answered questions,' he continued.
Harris was famous for speaking in 'word salads' when talking to the public in interviews or unscripted settings, as she layered multiple dependent clauses to emphasize her points.
Vance said he believed that Harris did not enjoy the same level of trust from former President Joe Biden that he as vice president enjoyed with President Donald Trump.
‘My sense is that there wasn’t a level of trust between Biden and Harris, she was just less empowered to do her job,’ Vance said.
Vance said he was grateful that Trump trusted him to do the job as he saw fit and did not try to 'micromanage' his vice presidency.

‘I feel empowered in a way that a lot of vice presidents haven’t been but that’s all in the service of accomplishing the president’s vision,' he said.
Vance also detailed the awkward transition between he and Harris prior to moving into the vice president's residence after the inauguration.
He indicated that his wife and three young children were interested in visiting the house before they moved in, in order to prepare for the transition.
Vance said he did not know whether it was a staff mixup or Harris' intention to block he and his family from the house, but the visit did not happen.
‘They just would not, even with me not there, they would not allow the three kids to come by and see this place that they are going to live in,' he said.
He dismissed the apparent slight however, as 'all water under the bridge.’
'The kids are living in the vice president's residence now, they all love it, there's a lot of space especially in Washington, DC and they're having a great time,' he said.

Vance also addressed comments from Kamala Harris' running mate Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, who recently said that his masculinity 'scared' the Trump-Vance team.
‘I think I scare them a little bit, why they spend so much time on me,’ Walz said during a podcast interview with California Gov. Gavin Newsom, adding he felt he could 'kick all of their ass.'
But Vance said that was not the case.
'I was never physically intimidated by Tim Walz,' he said, chalking up Walz's comment as posturing.
'The Democrats have become so unpopular among young men in particular but really all men, I think they have to posture and pretend ... I just think its a guy who doesn't actually know how to relate, who's trying to say something.'
Vance said he knew that Democrats were talking about Walz possibly running for Senate of Minnesota or even looking to a bigger leadership role in 2028.
'I'm not too worried about Tim Walz as a political talent. We're just going to focus on doing our job and when Tim Walz says something crazy we'll laugh at it and move on.'
