Jeff Bezos is a busy businessman, but is he genuinely taking real phone calls when he's being papped?

Over the past week, the Amazon founder, 62, has found himself at the center of a fresh conspiracy theory after he was repeatedly spotted on the phone while in Paris with his wife Lauren Sanchez.

Social media users have convinced themselves that Bezos has been faking these calls in a bid to avoid having to chat with passersby.

On June 14, Bezos's device was glued to his ear as he made a daytime appearance with Sanchez.

Dressed in a burgundy knit polo, dark-wash jeans and brown leather dress shoes, the tech mogul slid out of his chauffeured car while seemingly locked into a call.

Meanwhile, Sanchez exited the vehicle first and walked in front of her husband in a mid-length black vest dress and black wedges.

Later that evening, a sunglass-clad Bezos was seen holding his phone once again as he stepped out for a romantic dinner with Sanchez at Grand Palais.

While Bezos continued his call, his other half Sanchez seemingly arrived separately.

Social media users believe they have rumbled Bezos after videographer Amar Taoualit shared several videos of Bezos appearing to be engaged in conversation on his mobile.

Taking to the comments, eagle-eyed viewers shared their theories that Bezos has been faking his phone calls all along.

'He not talking to nobody on that phone,' one said. 'It's a trick we pull all the time.'

Another wrote: 'Bezos put more attention to your wife instead of pretending you on your phone.'

'He pretends to be on the phone so no one will talk to him,' a third added.

'Can we all agree that that's a fake phone call?' continued another.

The Daily Mail has contacted a representative for Bezos for comment.

Bezos and Sanchez, who are due to celebrate their one-year anniversary on June 27, had been in the French capital for a conference.

On Wednesday, Bezos attended the 10th edition of the VivaTech technology startup and innovation fair at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center.

During his talk, he shared his prediction that artificial intelligence will lead to labor shortages but not the replacement of humans.

'I know there's a lot of concern that many people have, including many smart people, that AI is going to make humans redundant and so on,' he said.

'I totally disagree with this point of view. And I think, in fact, AI is going to create a labor shortage.'

Bezos, who is worth an estimated $250 billion, went on to argue that people have 'endless' ‌things to do.

He added that many are currently limited by barriers that he said AI would lower.
