Jill Biden revealed details of Naomi Biden's pregnancy for the first time on Wednesday, as she talked about her President Joe Biden becoming great-grandparents.
It was the Bidens' first public comments about their upcoming new family member.
Naomi Biden, 30, is the eldest daughter of Hunter Biden. She announced her pregnancy on election night. It will be Hunter's first grand child and the Bidens' first great-grandchild.
Jill Biden addressed the news at a women's health conference she was hosting at the White House.
'We've talked about this all this morning - research that uses genetics to find a cause of extreme morning sickness, and I heard this a couple weeks ago, and I was particularly interested because my own granddaughter was going through the same thing,' she said.
Then she burst into a big smile and announced: 'Because we're going to be great grandparents!'
The room burst into applause.
Naomi Biden announced her pregnancy on the night of the 2024 presidential election with a post to her Instagram account.
'(we) voted,' she wrote on her Instagram story, displaying a prominent baby bump with an 'I voted' sticker on it.
DailyMail.com exclusively revealed in May that Naomi and her husband Peter Neal were expecting their first child.

Speculation has been rampant for months that she was expecting. It was the talk of a state dinner in May.
Naomi, who is known for wearing fitted clothes to her slim figure, donned loose fitting gowns during multiple occasions when she was seen in public.
As she and Neal entered a state dinner at the White House for Kenya in May, Neal appeared to be gesturing at his wife's stomach as they posed for photos.
As she leaned into him, what appeared to be a baby bump was seen in her long, roomy pleated metallic cape and dress set from Diana Ayad.
At one point, Neal appeared to be pointing to her bump.
She is the eldest daughter of Hunter Biden and his ex-wife Kathleen Buhle. Naomi works as an attorney in Washington D.C.
She and Peter Neal married in an opulent ceremony on the White House lawn on November 19, 2022. She was the first presidential grandchild to be married at the White House.

Meanwhile, the Bidens are preparing to end their time in the White House but are vowing not to go anywhere.
'We're no longer going to be president and First Lady but we're not going away,' President Biden told the health conference on Wednesday.

And Jill Biden vowed her work on funding for innovative research on women's health will continue.
'My work doesn't stop in January when Joe and I leave this house. I will keep building alliances like the ones that brought us here today,' she said.
