John Healey is set to face his first grilling in front of the Defence Select Committee the day after he announced post-Budget cuts to the military.
The Defence Secretary will answer questions from MPs from 10.30am this morning in his introductory session with the committee.
Mr Healey announced yesterday that six “outdated” projects across all three Armed Forces will be axed to save half a billion pounds over five years.
The Army’s Watchkeeper drone programme, the Navy’s Landing Platform Docks, HMS Albion and HMS Bulwark, the Type 23 frigate HMS Northumberland, wave class tankers RFA Wave Knight and RFA Wave Ruler, and 14 of the RAF’s oldest Chinooks and 17 Puma helicopters are all to be scrapped.
