Katie Holmes will soon be visiting daughter Suri Cruise at her new school, Carnegie Mellon University, DailyMail.com has learned.

That 45-year-old actress is squeezing the visit in between performances of her Broadway play Our Town at the Barrymore Theater on 47th Street in NYC.

She may be going as soon as this weekend when the college hosts its Family Weekend. The college event takes place on September 27 and 28 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which is 371 miles away from Manhattan.

Katie has several shows this weekend. The movie star has a performance on 8 pm on Friday, at 2pm and 8pm on Saturday, and at 3 pm on Sunday.

She is finding a way to fit in a visit somewhere, a source has told DailyMail.com.

'Family Weekend brings together Carnegie Mellon undergraduate and graduate students and their families and friends for a weekend of events that showcase the vibrancy of the campus experience,' the CMU website shared.

'Family Weekend features academic welcomes, information sessions, campus tours, student performances and other events.'

'We also encourage students and their families to use this time together to explore the city of Pittsburgh,' the site added.

'We invite family members to travel to Pittsburgh on the morning of Friday, September 27, as programming will start on Friday afternoon through Saturday evening.'

Tom Cruise, whom Suri is estranged from, won't be there, even though - as DailyMail.com reported - he is paying her tuition.

It was in his divorce settlement that he must cover all of Suri's education.

Meanwhile, Holmes is doing well with her play.

Katie plays Mrs Webb in the new production of the Broadway play Our Town.

Katie has been getting raves online for her performance, being called 'phenomenal' and 'amazing.'

Our Town - a play written by Thornton Wilder - has returned to the Broadway stage for the first time in over 20 years.

The revival features a total of 28 actors, including Holmes, Jim Parsons, Zoey Deutch, Ephraim Sykes, Julie Halston and Michelle Wilson.

Holmes was last seen in New York City on Wednesday; she has been working hard on her play and receiving positive feedback online

The premise follows the 'timeless tale of a small town' as 'a stage manager narrates the daily lives of its locals, depicts a childhood friendship turn into marriage, and sets the stage for magnificent truths of what it means to be alive,' per the official Broadway website.

Previews kicked off on Tuesday, September 17 at the Barrymore Theatre with opening night on October 10. The show will run through January 19, 2025.

Meanwhile, Suri is in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at Carnegie Mellon University.

The 18-year-old student began classes on August 26.

Cruise is forking over the money to put her through college.

That's because it was decided in 2012 when he divorced Katie after six years of marriage that he should cover all of her schooling.

The divorce documents revealed Tom pays Suri's expenses, including 'medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular costs.'

'Tom is indeed paying for Suri's tuition, he has always paid for her schooling and would never stop as he is a stand-up guy,' a friend of Tom's told DailyMail.com. The annual tuition at CMU is $65K.

'He has never hesitated paying his daughter's child support and expenses. He does not go back on his word. He is fulfilling his obligation.'

It is odd to think that Tom is paying Suri's way considering they have not been photographed together in over a decade.

Their last snapshot together in public was in April 2013.

Suri hinted that she is not on good terms with her father as she changed her last name from Cruise to Noelle. Noelle is Katie's middle name.

It has been hinted by Katie that Suri may be studying acting and dance at Carnegie Mellon. Holmes told Town & Country magazine that after college, her daughter wants to enter showbiz.

Both Katie and Suri's father Tom have been in the industry since their early 20s.

The magazine claimed that Suri 'is said to be interested in pursuing a career in fashion or acting.' That does not sound off base Suri starred in a high school production of The Addams Family.

And Katie has already put Suri to work on two of her films.

Suri contributed vocals to songs in two of Holmes' films - the 2023 drama Rare Objects and 2022 romantic drama Alone Together.

'I'm proud of my daughter,' Holmes told Town & Country of her daughter.

'Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I'm really proud of her and I'm happy.'

Holmes, speaking with Glamour in April 2023, said that she has sought to encourage Suri's performing on her projects.

'I hope she always does something on my films,' Holmes said. 'I always ask her.'

Holmes said that 'both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people.'
