Krispy Kreme is letting fans pre-order its new Pokemon doughnut collection before it officially launches, with some customers spending over $50 to secure their treats.

The collection first leaked in July after Pokemon-themed six-count boxes were spotted ahead of schedule.

Krispy Kreme has now officially unveiled the collaboration, which celebrates the franchise’s 30th anniversary with six colorful designs.

The collection launches at participating US and Canadian shops on August 18, but fans can pre-order a Pokemon dozen online between August 13 and August 17. Orders are subject to availability and confirmation from the selected shop.

One customer shared an order confirmation totaling $51.25, writing: “I guess i just pre-ordered Pokémon Donuts.”

The concept of reserving doughnuts nearly a week early left others questioning how far limited-edition food hype has gone.

“We are pre-ordering doughnuts now?? What are we doing??” another user asked.

The lineup features Pikachu with lemon Kreme, Charmander with chocolate toasted marshmallow filling, Squirtle with cotton candy buttercreme, Jigglypuff with strawberry buttercreme and Bulbasaur with vanilla icing.

A Poke Ball doughnut completes the set, while special cups filled with 10 Original Glazed Gold Dots will also be available in five different character designs.

“Catch every doughnut before they’re gone. This limited-time collection is available only at Krispy Kreme,” the company states.

However, the collectible packaging has already caught the attention of resellers. One eBay user has listed an empty Pokemon Krispy Kreme box for $65, despite the collection not launching until August 18. The item has only been listed and there is no indication anyone has paid the asking price.

Pokemon collaborations have repeatedly attracted scalpers. McDonald’s Japan recently introduced purchase limits for its latest Pokemon Happy Meal, while Target has been dealing with controversy over employees cutting open sealed Pokemon card products to hurt their resale value.

Krispy Kreme has not described pre-orders as an anti-scalping measure, but they will at least give fans a chance to secure a dozen before launch day.
