(The Center Square) - Los Angeles City council voted to pass a $30 minimum wage for hotel and airport workers, along with an additional healthcare benefit starting at $8.35 per hour for employees of businesses that do not provide health insurance.

Businesses say the large spike in wages will lead to closures, scaling back employees, and hotels backing out of agreements put in place for the 2028 Olympics — and could threaten the city budget....

Hotels say the new wage increase is unaffordable, especially with income for many hotels flat as other costs rise, and could leave some with no option but to convert to homeless housing....

Hotels aren’t complaining.

They’re happy to suck off the government teat.

Beats having to work for customers.

Don’t just talk about it. Do it! Give the maggots on the City Council something to really worry about.

In a free America, this communist garbage should never be allowed. But this ball has been rolling for quite a while now. I’m just amazed at how stupid communists are.

High minimum wages are to incentivize employers to hire illegal aliens under the table at lower rates.

It's the same with taxes on cigarettes. Such taxes are not to get people to quit but to instead allow the illicit unstamped or out-of-state stamped cigarette market to flourish.

There is a very easy way to prevent these businesses from doing these things.....just make it illegal to do.

Wow. But I don’t live in Los Angeles or even in California. Can I get one of those jobs and work from home?

Last time I flew to L.A. was 2010. I visited everywhere but L.A. Try the frozen bananas in Long Beach.

The real minimum wage will always be 0 dollars.

“It’s the same with taxes on cigarettes.”

I was standing in line at the checkout in Walmart the other day. I noticed the premium cigarettes such as Malboro were just shy of $10 a pack. I had no idea that they cost that much.

LA = Louisiana

L.A. = Los Angeles

When are journalists going to get it right?

To: T.B. Yoits

“High minimum wages are to incentivize employers to hire illegal aliens under the table at lower rates.”

There’s a clause in most union contracts that union wages will be X percent above the minimum wage. This is what drives ALL increases in the minimum wage.

Staying true to FR tradition - the first three paragraphs ARE complaints from businesses.....

driving up inflation further. Liberals never learn

When the state stops paying for the Illegals housing—this will suddenly stop. In California goes broke and Trump doesn’t send money—the world may change.
