My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way revealed that despite being a longtime fan of the original Baldur’s Gate, he has never played Baldur’s Gate 3, prompting a response from developer Larian Studios.
During the band’s The Black Parade 2026 Tour stop at Wembley Stadium, Way noticed fans holding a sign asking whether he had played Baldur’s Gate 3.
The question came from a banner created by TikTok user Katana Luciana, and Way admitted that while he loved the original game, he never got around to its award-winning sequel.
“No, I only played Baldur’s Gate 1,” Way told the crowd. “Not that I probably wouldn’t have liked 2 or 3. I did play the Icewind Dale expansion, but I just ran out of time, y’know.”
He then turned the question back to the audience.
“Did you play Baldur’s Gate 3?” Way asked, receiving loud cheers from fans. “Is it good?” After another wave of applause, he added, “I would assume so. The first one was a lot of fun. You know, it was the closest thing at the time to playing D&D.”
Larian responds with an offer for Gerard Way
Way’s comments quickly reached Larian Studios, which responded directly to the singer on X.
“Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance, what do you mean you haven’t played the critically acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons RPG, Baldur’s Gate 3?”
The studio followed up with a second post offering to help change that.
“Gerard, there’s a Baldur’s Gate 3 code with your name on it if you fancy trying it. Lots of love, Larian xoxo”

The interaction quickly gained traction online, with thousands of users liking and sharing the posts.
Way’s connection to Dungeons & Dragons has been well established over the years. In the opening scene of My Chemical Romance’s “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)” music video, his character is told: “You like D&D, Audrey Hepburn, Fangoria, Harry Houdini, and croquet.”
While Way may have missed Baldur’s Gate 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3 when they launched, Larian’s public offer means the MCR frontman now has an open invitation to experience the studio’s acclaimed RPG.
