“Law & Order: Organized Crime” officially has a Season 5 premiere date. The series, which officially moved from NBC to Peacock, will debut its first two episodes on April 17, followed by eight new episodes streaming weekly.
Although the show will no longer be on NBC, it will still stream on Thursdays — the same day “Law & Order” and “Law & Order: SVU” air on NBC.
The series follows Christopher Meloni as Det. Elliot Stabler, now running the Organized Crime Control Bureau. Danielle Moné Truitt, Danielle Moné Truitt, Rick Gonzalez, Olivia Thirlby and Ainsley Seiger also star. Dean Norris joined the series in Season 4 as Stabler’s brother.
Per the official description, “Season 5 explores the dangerous worlds of cross-border smuggling, high-tech domestic terrorism and a crime family intent on repaying Stabler for the injury he did them in Rome. As his worlds collide, Stabler will put everything on the line to protect the vulnerable and fight for justice.”
And as the new poster reads, this season’s tagline is: “In Stabler we trust.”
Mariska Hargitay, whose character Olivia Benson was partnered with Stabler for 13 seasons, told Variety last May that she was “planning” on making an appearance on the Peacock series in a crossover.
“I just told him the other day. We had a party the other night, we saw each other. It was heavenly. I met his showrunner. They want us together, and Chris and I were talking about it, and it’s time. It’s time now for us,” she said at the time. “This was a long time not being in each other’s universe. That’s why we did the calls and stuff like that. But we’re excited to get back in there, get back in the ring.”
The series, created by Dick Wolf, Ilene Chaiken and Matt Olmstead is produced by Universal Television, in association with Wolf Entertainment. Olmstead serves as the show’s seventh showrunner. Wolf, Olmstead, Meloni, John Shiban, Mike Slovis, Peter Jankowski and Tim Walsh executive produce.
