“Did she do some belly dancing inside the party,” a third asked, while a fourth questioned, “omg what’s the purpose of this look.”

And a fifth simply wrote, “Chanel hates her.”

Another added, “This is so girly and chic. She’s the cool girl and y’all know it :).”

Collaborating with stylist Spencer Singer, Depp accented the buzzed-about look with shimmering silver earrings and a coordinating bracelet.

For her Oscars debut earlier in the evening, Depp — who was one of the presenters for the best costume design award, for which “Nosferatu” was nominated — wowed in a custom Chanel Haute Couture gown made from black floral lace and embellished with sequins, crystals and pearls.

As for the inspiration behind the breathtaking confection, the actress pointed to Marilyn Monroe, Veronica Lake and “all our favorite Hollywood starlets.”

Depp added, “We wanted the dress to feel true to that inspiration, but also quintessentially Chanel haute couture.”
