Psychiatrists in Lindsay Clancy's trial will be cross-examined by defense lawyers today after taking the stand on Friday.
Clancy is accused of killing her three children, Cora, five, Dawson, three, and Callan, eight months, by strangling them with exercise bands in the basement of their Duxbury home in January 2023.
Last week, jurors heard from mental health professionals, counselors, psychiatrists, and medication experts who detailed the 35-year-old's treatment before and after the tragedy.
The Massachusetts nurse has admitted to killing her children but pleaded not guilty to murder, with defense lawyers arguing that she suffered a severe psychotic mental break as a result of undiagnosed postpartum depression and overmedication.
Clancy had been prescribed thirteen different psychiatric medications in the months before, including Seroquel, Trazodone, Ativan and Valium.
The prosecution maintains that Clancy's actions were deliberate and premeditated and that low drug levels in her blood did not cause cognitive impairment or psychosis. The trial continues at Plymouth County Superior Court.

Defense will first cross examine Dr Jennifer Tufts who began treating Clancy four months before killings
Dr Jennifer Tufts was a psychiatrist who treated Lindsay Clancy in the months leading up to the children’s killings and prescribed her multiple different medications.
Dr Tufts is currently being sued for malpractice by both Patrick Clancy and Lindsay Clancy, separately.
The lawsuits allege that she - and other providers named in the suit - overmedicated Clancy while treating her for postpartum mental health issues.
This overmedication led to her conditions worsening, and ultimately the deaths of her children, the suits allege.
Psychiatrist ‘misrepresented’ her experience, defense suggests
Reddington is questioning why she advertised herself as an expert or specialist in postpartum mental illness when she was only one month out of her medical residency.
He suggested it is ‘negligent’ or ‘misrepresentation,’ saying she had only ‘a month under your belt’ but claimed to be an expert.
Psychiatrist is being sued by Clancy
Defense attorney Kevin Reddington has brought up the lawsuits brought against Dr Jennifer Tufts and other providers by Lindsay Clancy and, separately, Patrick Clancy.
‘You’re a defendant in a very large lawsuit are you not?’ he asked.
The state objected but the judge overruled the objection.
Dr Tufts softly responded ‘yes.’
‘The outcome of this case is very major to the outcome of your lawsuit?’ Reddington pressed.
The psychiatrist said: ‘I don't know that.’
Psychiatrist saw no patients with postpartum psychosis before Clancy
In her single month as a practicing psychiatrist before seeing Clancy, she said she saw zero patients with postpartum psychosis.
She estimated she had seen a few with postpartum depression in that time.
However Dr Tufts insisted that she saw an estimated 50 patients with postpartum depression during her residency.

Dr Jennifer Tufts started seeing Lindsay Clancy just one month after completing her residency.
In August 2022, she began working as a practicing psychiatrist at Aster Health and got her individual DEA license to prescribe medication.
Just one month later, on September 15, 2022, she had her first appointment with Clancy.
The jury is looking back and forth between Reddington and the witness while the defense attorney paces around the courtroom.
Defense raises doubts about her experience

She testified that she completed her four-year residency at Boston Medical School in 2022.
During that time she estimated that she saw around 50 postpartum women.

The psychiatrist walked slowly into the courtroom and up to the stand looking nervous.
Reddington has moved to a podium standing next to the panel of jurors to question her.

Day 10 of Lindsay Clancy’s trial is now getting underway in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Defense accuses prosecution of shocking 'hot mic' moment on Friday
In a wild moment in court last week, defense attorney Kevin Reddington accused the prosecution of being caught on a hot mic saying to 'shut her up' about Lindsay Clancy when autopsy photos were shown inside the courtroom.
When the court returned from the morning recess, Reddington said he had something to address before the jury came in.
The judge called for a sidebar, but Reddington refused, saying: 'No, I don't want to do it on sidebar.'
'They were caught on a hot mic saying 'shut her up' during the playing of the autopsy,' he shouted, gesturing at the prosecutors.
The two sets of attorneys were summoned to the bench and the sidebar sound drowned them out.
On Thursday, medical examiner Dr Kimberley Springer testified about carrying out Callan's autopsy. Graphic autopsy photos were also shown to the jury.
During her testimony, Clancy broke down - sobbing loudly and uncontrollably at the defense table.
