“Lining His Own Pocket”: Democrat Senator Caught Sneaking Taxpayer Dollars into His Family’s Pocket Gets Obliterated for being “Epitome of Washington Corruption”

While Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) has recently been exposed as having snuck millions of taxpayer dollars to his wife’s climate-focused non-profit, millions of which ended up in her, and thus his, pocket through salary payments, the allegations of such behavior had surrounded him for months beforehand. In fact, one particularly poignant post called out his behavior in late-September of 2024 in response to an ad of his in which he decried the very sort of behavior in which he has engaged.

As background, the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) called out Sen. Whitehouse for the alleged corruption involving his wife in a February 25, 2025 press release. In that release, it said,  “Yesterday, the non-partisan ethics watchdog, the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT), filed a complaint requesting the Senate Select Committee on Ethics investigate and take appropriate action on Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island.”

Continuing, FACT noted that the senator appears to have broached a serious ethics rule, saying, “Sen. Whitehouse appears to have violated the Senate Ethics Rules on conflicts of interest by advocating and voting for legislation that resulted in nearly $7 million being paid in the fall of 2024 to an organization his wife works for.”

While that came out in late February of this year, some were calling it out in 2024. Amongst those wh did so was a poster on X named Anthony D’Ellena, who is the Chairman of the Narragansett Republican Town Committee and a Republican field organizer. He, in response to a post from Sen. Whitehouse about “dark money,” noted that the hypocritical senator is the very sort of sleazy DC politician he claims to oppose.

In the video and tweet that sparked the epic rebuke from Mr. D’Ellena, Sen. Whitehouse claimed, in part, that “dark money corrodes democracy” because “politicians start to listen to some really bad people.” The rest of the video was full of similar platitudes. Captioning it, the senator wrote, “I’m working to get rid of the dark money corroding our democracy to open up a whole new future in our politics.”

Slamming that tweet and video, Mr. D’Ellana noted that Sen. Whitehouse is the very sort of politician he claims to oppose, which is a corrupt politician funded by “dark money.” D’Ellena said, “Sheldon Whitehouse is the epitome of Washington corruption. The man couldn’t be more two-faced if he tried. He loves to cry about dark money, but that’s exactly what funds his campaign.”

Continuing, he argued that the Senator has gutted important programs like Social Security and Medicare, all while claiming to help senior citizens out. He said, “Then he claims he’s protecting Social Security and Medicare when he gutted $266 billion straight out of Medicare, to push electric vehicle subsidies. That’s not helping seniors at all he’s selling them out.”

Then, calling out the sort of corruption via his wife that FACT recently drew much attention to, Mr. D’Ellena described NGO-based climate hysteria as the senator’s “family business” because of how much he has helped his wife rake in through it. Doing so, he said, “Climate change is the Whitehouse family business he’s funneled millions into his wife’s climate company. Now, he’s under an ethics investigation.”

Concluding, he noted that the allegedly quite corrupt senator doesn’t care a bit about his constituents, and thus that they should elect the Republican candidate, who unfortunately lost in November. He said, “Whitehouse doesn’t give a damn about you, me, or anyone else. He’s too busy lining his own pockets. We need to elect @repmorgan this November!”
