Former Rockstar Games developer John Ricchio suggested that GTA 6 might have some things that were meant for Grand Theft Auto 5 but had to be cut before release.
The last few months have been pretty big for Grand Theft Auto 6. Not only did Rockstar Games once again commit to the November 19 release date, but they also ended rumors about the game’s cost by opening up the pre-order period. GTA 6’s base edition will cost you $80, while the ultimate edition will set you back $100. However, there is no physical disc on offer.
Despite that, they have gone back to being quiet on all things Grand Theft Auto 6, leaving fans to trawl through a host of new screenshots, as well as a fresh update for GTA Online.
Amongst all that, fans believe that GTA Online has clues about GTA 6, and that Rockstar might be soft-launching some of their plans for the new game already.
GTA 6 could have scrapped GTA 5 content
Well, speaking to Kiwi Talkz, long-time Rockstar dev John Ricchio agreed with the YouTuber that there is a world where content that didn’t make it into GTA 5 could actually appear in GTA 6.
“I think it depends, I think a lot of it depends on how much the tech changes between games or between iterations of the game,” Ricchio explained. “So, if the tech is fundamentally the same, or similar enough, you can sometimes plop it in as like, ‘hey, let’s just see how this works’.
“I know there was a game that got cancelled at Rockstar; it was a kind of unannounced game, and some of the missions that we had designed for that ended up in GTA 4, which was kind of cool.”

Ricchio noted there was “so much stuff” cut from GTA 5 just prior to launch, including mini-games that were “completely done.”
It remains to be seen if there is any holdover content, but fans have noted that some cars have seemingly been backported from GTA 6 in GTA Online in recent updates.
