“Love Island Australia” star Trent Woolman is in the hospital after suffering horrifying burns to his arms, mouth and airway after falling into a bonfire.
Woolman, who was a contestant on Season 5 of the hit show, also sustained a brain bleed and cyst, which was discovered by doctors when he arrived at the hospital.
“Been traumatic and the worst time of my life,” Woolman told the Daily Mail in an interview published Monday.
The tower crane operator told the outlet that he was sober and working by himself in a paddock at his sister’s house when he fell into the flames.
He managed to escape the fire and had to crawl back to his sister’s house, who called an ambulance. Woolman was airlifted to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne, where he was taken to the trauma unit.
Woolman was supposed to undergo skin grafts to his arms immediately, but his surgery was delayed after the doctors discovered a brain bleed.
Doctors have since treated him for the brain bleed and cyst, and he has undergone the skin graft surgery.
He praised his sister as “amazing” and “brave” for taking quick action in the scary situation.
The reality star has been hospitalized for over two weeks and is expected to remain there for several more weeks.
While most skin grafts are successful, complications, like infection or bleeding can arise, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Woolman entered the “Love Island Australia” villa on day one, and was sent packing on day 22.
While he has largely taken a step back from reality TV, Woolman is set to make a cameo on the upcoming season of “Married at First Sight Australia.”
He was spotted attending the wedding of his Love Island co-star, Zac Nunns, while filming for the series.
Nunns is set to be a “bombshell intruder” on the show and marry TikTok influencer Vanilla Milla.
