There’s love in the air in the Emmy race for original song.
Variety has exclusively confirmed that “Sounds Pretty Good to Me,” the original song featured in the Season 4 finale of the Netflix docuseries “Love on the Spectrum,” has been ruled eligible and is officially submitted for Emmy consideration in the outstanding original music and lyrics category.
The song was performed by cast member Tyler White and dedicated to his fiancée, Madison Marilla, at their engagement party this season, one of the franchise’s signature emotional high points. White co-wrote the track with Jackson Nance and Cameron Bedell.
White also performed “Sounds Pretty Good to Me” during the reception at the “Love on the Spectrum” FYC event in Los Angeles on April 3, giving voters and guests a live rendition of the ballad, which is now in the awards conversation.
A submission in the songwriting race marks new territory for a series that has built its reputation in the reality field after submitting cast member Abbey Romero’s song “Boyfriend Forever” last season, but was ultimately overlooked.
“Love on the Spectrum” debuted on Netflix in 2022 and has since won seven Primetime Emmy Awards across its three previous seasons, including outstanding unstructured reality program and casting in 2022 and 2025, in addition to directing for Cian O’Clery in 2024.
A nomination for “Sounds Pretty Good to Me” would extend that success into a craft category typically dominated by scripted series, limited series and variety specials.
The outstanding original music and lyrics race recognizes a single original song written for an eligible program and honors the songwriters behind it. The submission puts White, Nance and Bedell in contention alongside the seasoned composers and lyricists who typically populate the field at the Creative Arts Emmys.
Created by Karina Holden and Cian O’Clery of Northern Pictures, “Love on the Spectrum” offers a warm look at people on the autism spectrum as they navigate dating and relationships. Season 4 followed Connor Tomlinson, Dylan Aguilar, Emma Sue Miller, Georgie Harris, James B. Jones, Logan Pereira, Madison Marilla, Shelley Wolfee and Tyler White.
Netflix announced a fifth season renewal in April, with Tomlinson exiting the series, which is planned to return in 2027.
Emmy nomination voting opens June 11 and runs through June 22.
