Lower Taxes, Safer Streets, Stronger Border: President Trump’s Texas Record

Today, President Donald J. Trump returns to Texas with a record of results: historic tax relief, the most secure border in a generation, safer streets, and a surge of new private investment creating jobs across the Lone Star State.

Tax Relief for Texas Workers, Families, Seniors

President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts is putting money back in Texans’ pockets.

• No Tax on Overtime: Approximately one in four Texas workers no longer pay federal income taxes on qualifying overtime pay.
• No Tax on Social Security: About four million Texas seniors benefit from the new senior deduction.
• Bigger Refunds: Texas taxpayers saw average refunds of $4,344 — the second-highest in the nation.
• Rural Health Investments: Texas secured about $281 million in first-year Rural Health Transformation Program funding.
• Protecting Jobs and Wages: The Working Families Tax Cuts safeguarded 547,000 Texas jobs, $107 billion in state GDP, and $51 billion in workers’ wages.

Safer Streets Across Texas

Violent crime is falling across the state as a result of President Trump’s law-and-order agenda.

• Violent crime fell 13% last year, including a 13% drop in murder and 11% drop in rape.
• The top 25 most populous jurisdictions in Texas all posted lower overall crime rates than the year before.

• In the first half of 2026, Arlington homicides fell 60% from the first half of 2025.
• America’s Safest Big Cities recently placed Plano, Laredo, and Arlington in the national Top 20 — with Plano and Laredo in the Top 10.

The Most Secure Border in a Generation

President Trump ended the Biden-era border crisis and is reimbursing Texas for the costs it carried.

• The Trump Administration has not released a single illegal alien at the border for 16 straight months.
• Southern border apprehensions in August were 94% lower than the monthly average under Biden.
• Refugee admissions in the first ten months of this fiscal year are down almost 90% from 2024.
• The Working Families Tax Cuts allocated $46.5 billion to finish the border wall.
• Texas will soon receive $7.5 billion from the State Border Security Reinforcement Fund — established in the Working Families Tax Cuts — to recover costs from Biden’s border crisis.

Protecting Texas Communities

President Trump is delivering for Texas farmers, ranchers, and everyday families.

• Water for the Valley: In January 2026, USDA and the State Department secured Mexico’s commitment to deliver 350,000 acre-feet per year from the Rio Grande — meeting the 1944 treaty average and repaying prior-cycle debt.
• Protecting Ratepayers: After President Trump’s landmark Ratepayer Protection Pledge, the Public Utility Commission of Texas and ERCOT have moved to shield Texas families from the cost of data center expansion.
• Screwworm Response: The Trump Administration funded additional Texas Animal Health Commission inspectors and a new $750 million sterile-fly facility, which broke ground in April at Moore Air Base in Edinburg.
• Support for Farmers: The Trump Administration has delivered $827 million to more than 33,000 Texas farmers through the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program for the 2024 crop year. Nearly 27,000 Texas producers have also received more than $832 million in Farmer Bridge Assistance payments as part of a $12 billion national bridge program for trade disruptions and higher input costs left by the Biden Administration.
