An earthquake of magnitude 6.9 struck the east coast of Honshu, Japan on June 25, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said.

The tremor could be felt in Tokyo, media reports said.

No tsunami warning has been issued after the quake, state broadcaster NHK reported.
