Malaysian cops seize over 600 replica guns in KL, Kelantan raids

KUALA LUMPUR - Police have seized over 600 replica firearms along with two birds in a series of raids in the cities of Kuala Lumpur and Kelantan.

The raids were conducted by the wildlife crime bureau/special investigation and intelligence in Kota Baru and Jalan Raja Laut here on Dec 17 and 18.

Newly appointed Bukit Aman internal security and public order department director Comm Datuk Seri Azmi Abu Kassim said a Malaysian man was detained in the Kota Baru raid.

“We also seized 32 replica rifles and two rock magpies, which were kept without permits.

“We also seized medicines that did not have Health Ministry approval,” he said in a statement on Dec 21.

He said investigations revealed that the suspect had been selling replica firearms online for several months.

In the second raid at Jalan Raja Laut, a Malaysian and two foreign men were detained.

“We also seized 637 replica firearms,” said Comm Azmi adding the total value of the weapons, animals and medicines seized was RM436,971 (S$131,377). THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
