Four individuals who died after attending the Pinkfish countdown concert on New Year’s Eve in Selangor had drugs in their blood, Malaysian police said on Saturday.

Subang Jaya Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said toxicology analysis by the chemistry department confirmed drugs in their bodies.

“We received a report from the department, where all who died had drugs in their blood and it has been referred to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) to get the full report.

“We have recorded the statements of 52 individuals, including the victims who survived and concert personnel,” he said on Saturday.

The remaining victim – a 30-year-old man – is still being treated at the UMMC, he said.

“We are still unable to record his statement as we are waiting for the go ahead by the doctors.

“The individual who was discharged last week and had his statement recorded also had drugs in his blood,” he said.
