Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s widow breaks down in tears over his death amid prenup war with actor’s mom

Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s widow, Tenisha Warner, is opening up about the actor’s tragic death at age 54 last summer.

“The moments of that day, they occupy my body so deeply, so it’s really hard for me to relive what all of that was and to think about it,” Tenisha told Gayle King during a sit-down interview for “CBS Mornings” on Thursday.

The mom of one explained that she “can’t remember the details” of Malcolm-Jamal’s death because her body “went through shock.”

The “Cosby Show” alum passed away after drowning on a family vacation in Costa Rica.

Malcolm-Jamal was on the getaway with Tenisha and their now-9-year-old daughter.

“[His death was] the worst day of my life, feels unfair,” Tenisha admitted to King. “All I can think about is my daughter, and what I needed to do to continue being her mother and be her only parent.”

Tenisha noted that “he is here” with her “always,” and that she isn’t interested in moving out of the couple’s marital home, because all of their “memories” are there.

“I can’t be in my own home without feeling the loss, but I can’t walk away,” she said through tears.

Tenisha hopes that people won’t forget about her and her daughter as life goes on.

“The hardest thing about grief is that people move on, but for us, because we’re his wife and child, there’s no moving on,” she expressed. “There’s moving with and living with — he will always be a part of our every day and there’s not a moment … in my day that I’m not affected.”

Malcom-Jamal is also survived by his mother, Pamela Warner.

During the interview, King asked Tenisha if she was close to Pamela, to which she cooly replied, “You know.”

On Tuesday, news broke that Tenisha filed a lawsuit against her mother-in-law — who serves as the trustee of the Warner Family Trust — on Monday over a prenuptial agreement.

“For the last year, I have attempted to privately settle my beloved husband’s complicated estate and honor his last wishes. Malcolm had every intention to provide for our nine-year-old daughter and me,” she told Page Six in a statement.

Tenisha added that her late spouse was “close to finalizing” a new estate plan that would replace his 1996 wishes.

Malcolm formulated his estate plan at just 26 years old, 20 years prior to meeting his wife.

“Sadly, he was unable to do so before we lost him. I have been struggling to care for our daughter as a single mom and now as her sole provider,” Tenisha continued. “Legally, I had no choice but to take action to protect our rights before any potential statute of limitations expired.”

The suit claimed that Tenisha is entitled to $1.2 million, which is what the late star allegedly promised her in their 2022 prenuptial agreement, per TMZ.

While Pamela has not publicly addressed the lawsuit, she took to Facebook on the first anniversary of Malcolm’s death, noting, “During my year-long [grief] journey, I have discovered how cruel, evil and greedy a human can be.”

Last year, local police told The Post that the “Resident” actor got swept up in a strong current while in the ocean at the Playa Grande beach in Cahuita, Limón.

At the time, Malcolm’s cause of death was asphyxiation by submersion and ruled an accident.
