Manchester City have received their first offer from AC Milan for veteran full-back Kyle Walker, according to reports in France.

The 34-year-old is expected to leave the reigning Premier League champions before the January transfer window closes after informing Pep Guardiola that he wishes to seek a new challenge abroad.

AC Milan were quickly established as the frontrunners to sign Walker once Guardiola had publicised his desire to leave, though contrasting reports in the days that followed suggested neighbourhood rivals Inter were close to hijacking the deal.

But those rumours have quickly died down, leaving AC Milan in pole position to end Walker's eight-year stint at the Etihad Stadium - one that has yielded 17 trophies across domestic and European competition.

French publication L'Equipe state that Milan have lodged a first offer with City for Walker, with the details undisclosed, while Fabrizio Romano reports that the player himself has already given the green light to joining.

Further talks are expected to take place over the next 24 to 48 hours, with Walker guaranteed to be on the sidelines when City travel to Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Sunday.

In terms of a replacement for Walker, City appear to have a strong interest in Juventus' Andrea Cambiaso, though the 24-year-old will not come cheap. The Serie A giants can expect to receive in excess of €60m for a player they signed from Genoa in 2022.

City are also close to concluding a deal for centre-back duo Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis, from Lens and Palmeiras respectively, while an agreement has been reached with Eintracht Frankfurt for the signing of Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush.
