JOHOR BAHRU - A senior citizen was killed on Jan 19 when a car hit him while he was taking photos of an accident on the Iskandar Sultan Highway in Johor Bahru.
Johor Bahru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said the 68-year-old man was struck when a driver tried to avoid colliding with another vehicle involved in an earlier accident.
“Prior to the incident, a car had skidded and crashed into a road divider,” he said.
Another car, travelling towards Johor Baru from Jalan Prisma, tried to avoid hitting the first car as it passed through the area,” he said.
ACP Balveer added that while manoeuvring, the driver lost control and hit the man who was taking photos of the earlier accident.
He said the incident occurred at about 6.40am on Jan 19 at KM14 of the Iskandar Sultan Highway.
“The victim sustained severe head injuries and passed away while receiving treatment at Hospital Sultanah Aminah,” he said.
“Meanwhile, the 40-year-old driver suffered injuries to his head, face, left arm, and right leg,” added ACP Balveer.
He said the case is being investigated under the Road Transport Act for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
