A deranged Georgia driver repeatedly tried to mow down a jogger after she said “good morning” to him, according to cops.
The alleged victim said Jesse Allen Davis, 21, tried to hit her three different times after the innocuous greeting as she was out exercising near an apartment complex July 19 in Marietta, about 20 miles northwest of Atlanta, according to WSB-TV.
“He got into a vehicle, and for whatever reason he attempted to strike her with the vehicle while she was in the parking lot,” Cobb County Police Department spokesman Eric Smith said
The stranger clipped her on the initial attempt before chasing her through a parking lot in his vehicle, hitting a parked car before crashing into a pole, badly bloodying his face, the outlet writes.
The women fled for her life, taking cover behind a dumpster before calling 911.
Another motorist, Lloydethan White, said he was also almost struck.
“When I had seen him, he almost hit my car and her,” he said.
“I think it’s wrong that a woman has to fear for her life,” White told WSB-TV, “and she’s just trying to go about her normal day and workout.”
Davis was arrested and taken to Cobb County Jail, where he’s being held on $5,720 bond on aggravated assault and hit-and-run charges, according to jail records
It was not immediately known if he had retained counsel.
