Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his wife, Jeanette, tackled some 'tough' topics during an appearance on Katie Miller's podcast this week.

The lawmaker's proclivity for Pop-Tarts, other eating habits, and thoughts on whether a hot dog 'is a sandwich' were among matters discussed.

The wide-ranging interview lasted more than an hour.

Hilarity ensued after Miller, 34, noted how Rubio has been known to have a 'sweet tooth.'

'Oh, my gosh,' Jeanette, a former Miami Dolphins cheerleader, reacted as Miller followed up.

'I assume you haven’t adopted RFK's diet of red meat and fermented vegetables?'

Rubio, 55, said 'no' before she was even finished asking.

'No. No, this is a crazy diet. This is a- this is a diet that consists of eating sauerkraut and meat.'

Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his wife, Jeanette, sat together for a now-viral interview on Tuesday

Podcaster Katie Miller, Stephen Miller's wife, sparked a humorous exchange by calling attention to rumors of Rubio's 'sweet tooth'

Both Miller and Jeanette, 52, laughed at the secretary's revelation.

Rubio insisted: 'You understand, like, this is not a sustainable thing.'

'Like, you can’t just walk into a-'

His wife, after offering her spouse a series of incredulous looks, interrupted to assert that, 'Well, [Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.] sustains it, because he does it.'

She shook her head in disapproval.

'He does. But he has to travel with coolers of sauerkraut,' Rubio answered, while becoming increasingly enthusiastic.

'I’m not going to travel the world with a cooler full of sauerkraut. It’s ridiculous. I can’t do it. It’s not sustainable for me.'

Miller – now a year into her podcasting career – then flat-out asked whether Rubio was a fan of Kennedy Jr's 'MAHA (Make America Healthy Again)' movement, leading the latter to later lament his own strict, low-carb dieting attempt.

First, he declared: 'I’m in favor of MAHA. Like, I think people should be healthy,' in the style of a true statesman.

His wife, however, wasn't having it.

'No, he is not. He is completely not. I-' she said, shaking her head.

'What's he eat?' Miller blurted out, with the two seemingly finding a connection.

Jeanette specified within a second: 'Pop-Tarts.'

A smiling Rubio first set out on clarifying his rate of consumption.

'No, I don’t eat Pop-Tarts every day,' he said – to which his wife noted that he eats sweets, ice cream and fast food.

Rubio also tried defending the popular breakfast food's honor.

The lighthearted, hourlong interview also revealed the lawmaker's ill-fated attempt at the Keto diet and love for Pop-Tarts

'The Pop-Tart is one of the great American innovations in the history of the world, if you think about it,' he proclaimed, gesturing with his hands. 'It comes in this beautiful foil package.'

He urged his wife to list anything more, and she happily obliged.

'Anything. Anything that – anything that’s sugar, you will take it down.'

'You need carbohydrates to function,' Rubio laughed.

He then spoke about his ill-fated attempt at the Keto diet 'maybe four or five years ago.'

'And you just eat all this protein, and so you go through this massive withdrawal from sugar and carbohydrates for the first 72 hours.

'It was a near-psychotic event for me.'

'It’s true. It’s true,' his wife remembered over more laughter.

'Like, if I did this in this job, I would be, “Mr. President, we must bomb Paraguay,”' Rubio joked. 'And it’s like, “Why?” “I don’t know, I’m just really mad; I haven’t had any sugar.'

'I’m not asking that we ban it. I encourage people to try it,' he clarified. 'I’m just saying it’s not for everyone.'

The Tuesday exchange quickly went viral. The interview received nearly 200,000 views.

At another point, Miller asked another hard-hitting question - disclaiming she asked the same to Vance and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Mehmet Oz.

'So I’m curious: Is the hot dog a sandwich?'

Both Rubios agreed it 'technically' is.

Miller launched the Katie Miller Podcast in August of last year. She has been married to her husband since 2020.

The two met during their time in the first Trump administration, in 2018, when she was Vice President Mike Pence's communications director.
