A Texas mother was found murdered near a popular San Antonio trail with horrific head injuries.

Stacey Dramiga, 63, was reported missing by her husband on Sunday when she did not come home from her routine walk along the trails in Dafoste Park.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar told My San Antonio: 'She was known to frequently walk alone in the park and felt pretty comfortable doing so.'

This case is being treated as a homicide, Salazar told the outlet. He added that detectives speculate that she was forced or taken into the woods.

Dramiga was last seen alive at about 10 am. Before calling the police, her husband tried looking for her on his own.

Stacey Dramiga, 63, was found dead on Monday about 30 yards off the paved trails on the Salado Creek Greenway

He found her car parked at Covington Park, which is about an hour-long walk away from where her body was found.

Dramiga was a fan of the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trail System, which spans about 100 miles citywide and connects many parks.

Investigators issued a CLEAR alert - which helps authorities find where missing or endanger people are - and tried pinging Dramiga's phone.

But this only led them to the general area of the park she was in. They then used a family iPad to more precisely locate the mother, which led to them discovering her dead body on Monday.

She was found about 30 yards off the paved trails on the Salado Creek Greenway with signs of head trauma, reported by the county's medical examiner.

Investigators believe Dramiga was forced off the trail into the woods

Dramiga's family is not considered involved in her death and has been very cooperative, officials said.

Her daughter, Maisha Dramiga, tearfully told KENS 5: 'I am so grateful I have the mom I have and she has been taken from us, but I still had almost 30 years with that.

'Some people don't even know that experience.'

Dramiga was a beloved mother and employee at the Brooke Army Medical Center

Aside from being a beloved mother and wife, Dramiga was also a highly valued employee at the Brooke Army Medical Center, according to KSAT

A statement the medical center released on Wednesday reads: 'Brooke Army Medical Center received the tragic news that a member of our family, Ms. Stacey Dramiga, was found deceased by the Bexar County Sheriff’s office after having been missing since Sunday morning.

'Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family, friends, and co-workers. Stacey was a beloved member of the BAMC staff and will be greatly missed.'
