Martha Stewart reveals why she is refusing to eat turkey this Thanksgiving

Martha Stewart has revealed that she's not eating any turkey on Thanksgiving this year - and even joked that her own home-raised birds have been 'pardoned.'

The 83-year-old homemaking mogul revealed that she won't be indulging in any turkey during this year's holiday as she appeared on Today Thursday to share her recipe for Brioche Stuffing-Filled Roasted Pumpkin.

'Although I raise my own turkeys, they have been pardoned this year,' Stewart revealed during the segment. 

'We're going to eat only vegetarian,' she continued, as she explained that the brioche was great for the people in her house as she has to tend to 'a lot of vegetarians' in her family. 

On her Instagram page, Stewart often shows off her various livestock, like chicken coops, and gorgeous plants on her Bedford, New York, property and farm in Maine.

Though, in the past, it seems like the Martha Stewart Omnimedia Living founder has been enthusiastic about making a Thanksgiving turkey, with some special tips and tricks.

During a recent interview with Mashed, Stewart shared her method for making a delicious turkey.

She instructed that after you've stuffed and buttered your turkey, you wrap it up with parchment paper and close it up with some staples before roasting it.

Though, in the past, it seems like the Martha Stewart Omnimedia Living founder has been enthusiastic about making a Thanksgiving turkey, with some special tips and tricks

And, about a half hour before it's done roasting, she recommends taking it out of oven and removing the parchment paper before popping it back in for those final few minutes.

'It then gets, it'd be almost like Peking duck skin,' she revealed to the outlet. 'I cannot tell you, it is so utterly delicious.'

However, this year, in addition to forgoing Turkey, Stewart won't even be in the country for the holiday.

Instead, she is going to Rome, Italy, to celebrate Thanksgiving with her grandchildren. 

'We decided the kids wanted to go away, the grandchildren, and so we're all packing up and going to Rome for a few days to visit the sites,' Stewart recently revealed to People.

Stewart has two grandchildren, granddaughter Jude, 13, and grandson Truman, 12, who are the children of her only daughter, Alexis.

And, of course, the Martha Stewart CBD founder has a fabulous trip planned for her family.

In fact, it's so jam-packed that Stewart joked her grandchildren might get 'mad' at her.

However, although she will be out of the country during Thanksgiving, the Martha Stewart CBD founder is planning to get right back to holiday hosting once she lands back home

'We have such an itinerary,' Stewart told the outlet.

'My grandchildren will get mad at me. They think they're going on vacation for five days, but in fact, we are going to see everything. I've planned quite a trip.'

However, although she will be out of the country during Thanksgiving, the mogul is planning to get right back to holiday hosting once she lands back home.

And, she told People that it's important to have one specific treat out for guests who come over to your home during the holiday season.

'If somebody comes over in the afternoon, you have to have homemade Christmas cookies lying around,' Stewart said.

'You just have to, and you have to have a couple dinners for your family and friends,' she continued.

She also admitted that there was 'no time' for arguments among family during this time.

Instead, she likes to keep thinks 'light-hearted.'

'I think the holidays are sort of the time when people come to see you and exchange presents and have a little fun,' Stewart told the outlet.

'I try to keep it very light-hearted and pleasant around the holidays. Family arguments, there's no place for that at the holiday time.'
