The player stats for Marvel Rivals’ Ranked mode reveal how little the community cares about competitive offerings.

Developer NetEase has broken Marvel Rivals’ Ranked play into nine different ranks, with Bronze on the lowest rung and One Above All featuring the top 500 players.

Those who reach level 10 will automatically enter Bronze Tier III, then progress through the higher-level ranks based on their competitive wins and losses.

Since launch, this system has endured its fair share of ups and downs, given the ongoing smurfing concerns and NetEase’s brief attempt at adopting mid-season Rank resets. New stats suggest the user base has minimal interest in the hero shooter from a hardcore competitive standpoint.

PC stats show steep dropoff in Marvel Rivals Ranked play

Rank distribution stats shared by the fan account Marvel Rivals Media have revealed how many PC players have achieved each rank.

Since the game places every Level 10 user in Bronze, it’s no surprise that more than 1.2 million players sit in the Bronze Tier III ranking. But what’s most compelling is the relatively small number of PC players who have continued to rank up.

Just 315,000 Marvel Rivals users have made it to Bronze Tier 2; the Silver rank’s lowest tier only plays host to about 285,000 fans. The middle ranking – Diamond – sees the first major dropoff, with 83,000 people at Tier III and 32,000 at Tier I.

The game’s struggled to retain Ranked players at higher levels, too, given the drastic loss of participants when comparing the Grandmaster, Celestial, and Eternity ranks.

These figures indicate that even hardcore players prefer the more casual offerings, a far cry from the split seen in games like Apex Legends and LoL where the percentage of players across ranks appears more evenly spread.

Generally speaking, Apex’s Ranked users are much more likely to achieve the middle and higher ranks than Marvel Rivals fans, though it’s worth remembering that one game just celebrated its sixth anniversary while the other hasn’t even made it to six months.

Why players seem to care so little for the Marvel Rivals Ranked mode, despite the game’s popularity, is anyone’s guess. Smurfing, AFK users, and other types of cheaters could play a big role based on the replies to Marvel Rivals Media post.

That said, the hero shooter still has time to grow and iron out the kinks, especially since NetEase has started cracking down on cheaters.
