"While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition."

"There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I'll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General."

Bet ol’ Sonny Hostin is just overjoyed. This is bogus.

It’s the right move. Should never have accepted in the first place considering the circumstances.

It's possible that Gaetz was tossed out there as a sacrificial lamb (with Gaetz's consent).

This makes it very hard for the senate to reject Trump's next choice, such as a Ken Paxton.

I'm quite sure Gaetz ends up playing an important role in the Administration.

I’m guessing he’s a free agent now since he already resigned from the House. Guess he should’ve waited...

The left will find some reason to block whoever else Trump picks for AG. They have on speed dial whatever women they need who all of a sudden remember something from decades ago.

So question: Does the Deputy Attorney General have to go through Senate confirmation too?

RDS is going to appoint him to the Senate?

This is probably a good move.

Before the next (and the next, and the next) media driven attacks on all the others, it’s very important to get out for comparison the sorts of people who have served as cabinet members since, oh let’s say, 1963.

Trumps appointments are quite in line with all the others.

he’ll probably end up somewhere else, perhaps a position not needing confirmation. moving on ‘cuz time’s-wastin’.

I loved the appointment, but let’s be honest. This guy is a clown who would be selling used cars for a living if Congress didn’t exist.

Anyone else a threat to the Deep State and Dem lawfare will be just as roughly handled. Anyone willing to bow down and allow the Do"J" run roughshod over the Constitution will be welcomed in no matter what his background.

President Trump, the left tried to assassinate you to keep people like Gaetz from interfering in their power. This is your "fight, fight, fight" moment.
