The Sip Squad Game Night presented by McDonald’s sees creators clash in Fortnite, Overcooked and many more games, all live on Twitch. McDonald’s sponsored the first-ever Sip Squad Game Night, bringing together six creators for a three-hour competition inspired by the restaurant’s new lineup of beverages.
Split into two teams of three, the creators faced off across Fortnite, Overcooked All You Can Eat!, and Party Animals, with points carrying over into a second Game Night planned for the coming weeks.
Each creator represented one of the 6 new drinks, turning the broadcast into a full-on showdown between squads.
Here’s a full breakdown of what happened in Game Night 1, as well as details of what’s still to come.
Game Night 1 recap
The first Sip Squad Game Night featured Happy’s Squad taking on Lucky’s Squad in a series of increasingly chaotic games.
Happy’s Squad included HappyHappyGal, MrsChimChim, and Yvonnie, while Lucky’s Squad featured LuckyChamu, PeterParkTV, and FanFan.
The night opened with Fortnite, where both teams battled for early momentum. Although both teams won their opening matches, Lucky’s Squad took the lead after racking up more eliminations on their way to the Victory Royale.
Rounds 2 and 3 of Fortnite were much tighter, as Happy’s Squad managed a higher finish in both, but ultimately still lost 3-0 due to Lucky’s Squad earning more eliminations.
Things only got messier in Overcooked, as the pressure of managing kitchens, preparing meals, and coordinating orders quickly descended into chaos. Communication started breaking down, players scrambled to keep up with orders, and the stream delivered some of its funniest moments of the night, all while Lucky’s Squad extended their lead to 3-0.
Party Animals closed out the event with exactly the kind of unpredictable energy fans expected, as the two teams went head to head. They battled the wacky physics, threw each other off maps, missed goals, and desperately fought to avoid elimination.
By the end of the stream, Lucky’s Squad had completely dominated the competition and secured a clean sweep, winning every single round across all three games and finishing Game Night 1 undefeated.
Fortunately for Happy’s Squad, the competition isn’t over yet.
Game Night 2
The same creators will return for Game Night 2 in the coming weeks, where they’ll compete in VALORANT, Rocket League, and GeoGuessr for the Sip Squad trophy. While exact details are still being finalized, there are already hints that things may mix up!
McDonald’s new beverages
McDonald’sAlongside the tournament action, the stream also spotlighted McDonald’s new lineup of specialty beverages, which has been generating positive attention online since launching at participating U.S. locations in early May.
The menu includes a mix of crafted sodas and caffeinated Refreshers.
The current lineup includes:
- Mango Pineapple Refresher
- Sprite® Berry Blast
- Strawberry Watermelon Refresher
- Orange Dream
- Blackberry Passion Fruit Refresher
- Dirty Dr Pepper®
These drinks became part of the creators’ on-stream branding during Game Night 1, with each player representing a specific beverage throughout the competition.
With another Game Night still to come, the Sip Squad competition is only getting started.
