A Boston NBC affiliate shared sensitive information regarding the lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial on Friday, despite the list of jurors being impounded.
NBC 10 reported that the juror, whom the outlet did not name, had an active restraining order against him during the trial, was facing a pending eviction, and had been accused of sexual assault, although those charges were eventually dropped. The affiliate said it searched court records, interviewed the landlord and family members, and attempted to visit the juror at his home.

According to the records, the juror faced criminal charges for allegedly assaulting his then-wife in 2021.
His 13-year-old nephew called 911, telling the operator that the juror had grabbed his wife’s throat before throwing her into a dresser.
As he was being arrested, the juror’s mother repeatedly yelled, “You’re evil!” according to NBC 10’s reporting of the records.
The charges were later dropped after his wife told NBC10 Boston that she did not want to testify because she was afraid of losing custody of her daughter.
The boy later took out a restraining order against the juror in 2025, alleging that he had pushed the teenage boy to the ground before repeatedly punching him in the face.
In an affidavit, the nephew said the juror had told him that “You ruined my (expletive) life” by calling the police, adding that “You’ve had this coming your way for a long time.”

Another family member also described the juror to NBC 10 as a “narcissist” and said he never should have served as a juror.
The Massachusetts outlet then raised questions about how the juror was selected in the first place.
While the questionnaire used to determine qualifying jurors had not been shared with NBC 10, the outlet reported that a standard juror questionnaire in the state asks whether a candidate has been arrested or charged with a crime.
NBC 10’s chief legal analyst told the outlet that it would have been a crime for the juror to have answered the questionnaire untruthfully.
However, Andrew Kloster, a longtime government attorney, told the Daily Caller that “This just looks like the expected smear campaign against a juror who was exercising his rights.
“Debts and dismissed criminal charges are not the kinds of things that obviously bias the juror one way or another, and it’s hard to say there was harm to the defendant here, because there’s no conviction,” Kloster added. “Any error in having the juror in the trial will be moot once a new trial is held.”

The jurors had not been named by NBC 10 as the list had been impounded, and the outlet did not clarify how the juror had been identified.
“I’m curious how the news media got the list though,” Kloster said. “And I’m holding out no hope that any interest is taken in finding the leaker.”
“One thing we definitely learned from the trial is that Massachusetts courts seem to be rather below the standards of the rest of the country generally,” he added.

While the holdout juror is still unknown, some jurors have elected to speak to the media themselves.
As one of three male jurors, and the only black person in the deliberation room according to another member of the jury, the holdout juror was tasked with considering the evidence and determining whether Clancy should be deemed not guilty by reason of insanity for the alleged murder of her three children. He was the only juror who maintained that Clancy should be held criminally responsible for her actions, forcing a mistrial after days of deliberation.
