Melania Trump has been furiously mocked online after she admitted she would split her time between the White House and New York City to care for her 18-year-old son, Barron.
The 54-year-old wife of the incumbent president is reportedly trying to stay away from the limelight during husband Donald's second term, with many insiders claiming Melania will take on a 'part-time' First Lady role.
Melania has been nearly invisible for the entirety of the 2024 race and it seems as though her reluctance to a life of politics will continue into the President-elect's second term.
Melania seems to be looking to steer clear of the mayhem surrounding D.C., with reports she'll only be making occasional visits to the White House.
After Donald is inaugurated in January, Melania will be splitting her time between Florida and Manhattan, with her spending the majority of her time in the Big Apple, where Barron is attending college.
Although the former model is shying away from her duties as First Lady, she will be occupied being a full-time mom to their son, who is enrolled at New York University's Stern School of Business.
While her 18-year-old may want the run of Manhattan, Melania seems to be keeping her son on a tight leash, a move that has sparked a wave of backlash from people who say she needs to 'cut the umbilical cord.'
After it was revealed that the mom wasn't ready to let her son have a taste of freedom, people flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to furiously tease Melania as many accused her of 'smothering' her kid.

DailyMail.com exclusively revealed that Barron would be attending NYU in September.
Donald told DailyMail.com: 'He was accepted to a lot of colleges. He's a very smart guy, and he'll be going to Stern, the business school, which is a great school at NYU.'
Barron graduated in May from Palm Beach's prestigious Oxbridge Academy.
He has supported his dad through his Presidential race, with him appearing at a Trump campaign rally on July 9 in Miami where he confidently mirrored his father's fist pumping pose and lapped up a standing ovation.
He was not present four days later when gunman Thomas Crooks attempted to assassinate his father.
However, Donald revealed that his son watched the horrific events unfold on live television.
