The Merriam-Webster dictionary chose "menorah" as its Word of the Day for Thursday.
Its definition of the word is stated as "a candelabra with seven or nine lights that is used in Jewish worship."
The nine-branched Hanukkah candelabra is referred to as hanukkiah in Hebrew, Merriam-Webster noted, but English speakers use the word menorah, as well.
