Nintendo has officially announced Metroid Ravenous for Switch 2, Samus Aran’s first side-scrolling adventure since 2021’s acclaimed Metroid Dread.
The new Metroid game was unveiled during Nintendo’s September 9 Direct, with a release date to boot.
Metroid Ravenous officially revealed
Metroid Ravenous was shown for the first time during the September 9 Nintendo Direct, as Nintendo offered an initial look at Samus’ latest adventure, as well as revealing a new tie-in amiibo and special edition.

While Ravenous had not previously been announced by Nintendo, its existence wasn’t a complete surprise.
The game’s title surfaced in July after a registration for Metroid Ravenous was spotted in Brazil. The listing was subsequently removed, leaving its nature unclear until Nintendo’s official reveal.
Metroid Ravenous releases January 28, 2027. This is an ongoing story.
