A migrant boat has launched from the furthest point ever in an attempt to cross the English Channel while Border Force rushes to intercept.
The ambitious journey began from Veulettes-sur-Mer, meaning the journey ahead of the migrants aboard is 65-miles-long.
However, the standard distance usually taken by illegal arrivals, from Dover to Calais, is only 27 miles.
The last record for the longest distance travelled by a dinghy was back on May 26, when a migrant dinghy was spotted after it launched off the shore south of the port of Dieppe in Normandy early in the morning.
A recovery boat and officials from Border Force are rushing from Eastbourne to intervene, GB News's Home and Security Editor Mark White revealed.
