Minecraft players have been left frustrated after Twitch ran out of free Builder Cape reward codes, just days after the in-person Crafter Cape became a major resale target.
Mojang revealed the Crafter Cape and Builder Cape on May 19 as part of its TwitchCon Rotterdam plans. The Crafter Cape was made available to attendees who completed a Minecraft-themed quest at the event, while the Builder Cape was pitched as an online alternative for players who could not attend in person.
The issue comes after Dexerto previously reported that TwitchCon exclusive Crafter Cape codes were already selling for hundreds of dollars on eBay, with some sold listings going for over $1,000.
Twitch Support says Builder Cape codes ran out
Players began reporting issues with the Builder Cape after attempting to claim the free Minecraft reward through Twitch, only to be met with a message stating: “Redemption code is unavailable. Please try again later.”
Screenshots shared by players show Twitch Support later confirming that the promotion had run out of codes. One email stated that “as of approximately 10am PST on May 31st,” available reward codes for the Minecraft Cape had “ran out earlier than anticipated.”
“Unfortunately, in accordance with our promotional partner, we are unable to provide additional codes,” Twitch Support said in another message shared online.
Hey could you restock codes on Twitch? There was no disclaimer that there was a limited number of capes since they are claiming they won't get more, and many people have the drop but no code to get it. pic.twitter.com/FDTjoiYwxE

The response quickly spread through the Minecraft community, with YouTuber Andrew “Toycat” posting: “Apparently Minecraft ran out of the builder capes to give away twitch?”
Another player asked Twitch to restock the codes, claiming there was no disclaimer that the capes were limited and saying “many people have the drop but no code to get it.”
Builder Cape codes start selling on eBay
As players complained about missing out on the free reward, Builder Cape codes also started appearing on eBay.
Screenshots show sold listings for Minecraft Builder Cape codes ranging from around $5 to $50. Some listings advertised the cape as a TwitchCon 2026 or Minecraft Live reward, despite the Builder Cape being the online alternative to the in-person Crafter Cape.

That resale market is much smaller than the one surrounding the Crafter Cape, where some codes were listed and sold for hundreds of dollars before and during TwitchCon. However, the Builder Cape situation has sparked a different kind of frustration because it was meant to be the more accessible option for players watching from home.
It is currently unclear whether Twitch or Minecraft plans to restock Builder Cape codes. Based on the support messages shared by players, Twitch is telling users that no additional codes can be provided.
