Minecraft speedrunner Skycrab has beaten the game in 6:39.813 to claim the random seed world record, one year after an Enderman killed him moments before he could finish an even faster run.
The July 27 run took place in Minecraft Java Edition 1.16.1’s Any% Glitchless Random Seed category. Competitors begin in a freshly generated world they have never seen and must gather resources, enter the Nether, locate a stronghold, defeat the Ender Dragon, and enter the exit portal as quickly as possible.
Skycrab’s 6:39.813 in-game time beats the previous verified record of 6:50.359, set by lowkey, by just over 10.5 seconds. Lowkey’s time had occupied the top spot on the Speedrun.com leaderboard for more than a year.
One Enderman had already denied Skycrab a 6:17
For Skycrab, finally claiming the record completes a three-year grind and puts an end to one of the most painful near misses in Minecraft speedrunning history.
In June 2025, he reached the End on historic pace and killed the Ender Dragon at 5:59. The run was projected to finish at approximately 6:17, more than 40 seconds ahead of the world record at the time.
However, Skycrab dropped toward the exit portal with only half a heart remaining. Before the portal opened and could send him through to stop the timer, an Enderman teleported behind him and killed him.
The run could not be counted because Skycrab never officially completed the game, leaving him with a clip of the devastating 6:17 failure instead of a world record.
One year later, there was no Enderman waiting to take the moment away. Skycrab safely entered the portal and immediately celebrated after realizing his 6:39 run had finally put him on top.
“6:39 WORLD RECORD A WHOLE YEAR AFTER THE 6:17 CHOKE,” he wrote on X. “IT IS OVER. NO ENDERMAN THIS TIME.”
Skycrab said he had spent more than three years pursuing the record, calling the run his “proudest accomplishment forever” in the video’s description.
At the time of writing, the 6:39.813 submission is still marked as pending on Speedrun.com. Lowkey’s time will remain displayed in first place until moderators complete their verification.
