What are we even doing here?
The podcast “Talkin’ Baseball” asked fans of all 30 MLB franchises to name who they believed was the most overrated player of all time, which, on paper, is going to spark debates. But there’s one fan in particular that has people a bit irked.
You had fans having some understandable answers, such as Derek Jeter and Jose Altuve. But then there was a fan of the soon-to-be Las Vegas Athletics who said, get this, Hank Aaron.
This absolutely enraged social media.
“Like imagine hitting 755 bombs and knocking in over 2,000 runs while being called ‘monkey,’ ‘n*gger’ and receiving death threats your entire career,” tweeted user @SavageNtheBox. “Then some 20-something whomever watched that player play comes around and calls them ‘overrated.’”
“How f*cking embarrassing and a terrible reflection of the company.”

— Talkin' Baseball (@TalkinBaseball_) August 10, 2026Look, sports debates are built on bad opinions, I get it. But calling Hank Aaron “overrated” is insane to me; it’s an absolute masterclass in baseball ignorance.
If you take Hank Aaron’s 755 career home runs away completely, the man still has over 3,700 hits, which obviously puts him in the 3,000-hit club. Oh, but I can take it further.
He holds the all-time Major League record for total bases (6,856) and RBIs (2,297). He was a 25-time All-Star, a 3-time Gold Glove winner, an MVP and a World Series champion. And let’s not forget the man broke Babe Ruth’s home run record under an incredible amount of pressure, with racism and death threats being thrown in his direction.
To look at that resume and say, “Yeah, he’s overrated,” requires a level of delusion that shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a microphone.
Absolute ignorance, absolute disrespect, Major League Baseball needs to revoke this woman’s fan card.
