Call of Duty players will be able to play Modern Warfare 4 a week early thanks to the return of the Campaign Early Access.

This started with 2022’s Modern Warfare 2, where those who digitally pre-ordered were able to experience the entire single-player story a week before it came out. Activision did the same for Modern Warfare 3 the following year, but campaign reviews were scathing, and neither Black Ops 6 nor BO7 followed suit.

Now, however, Activision have confirmed that the Modern Warfare 4 campaign will be playable on Friday, October 16 — an entire week before the full game’s launch on October 23.

How to get MW4 campaign early access

To get Modern Warfare 4 campaign early access, you have to pre-order or pre-purchase the digital edition. MW4 has both a standard edition and a Vault Edition, which includes extra cosmetics, but it doesn’t matter which one you pre-order, as long as it’s the digital edition.

Pre-orders are live for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC already, but Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders will go live later in the year.

The campaign centers on a war between North and South Korea, and you mostly play as Private Park – a young South Korean soldier facing combat for the first time.

Meanwhile, Captain Price has his own mission after going rogue following the events of 2023’s Modern Warfare 3.

Players will fight in the Korean Peninsula, New York, Paris, and Mumbai as North Korea’s invasion of the south threatens to destabilize the world.

This week-long early access should give you plenty of time to complete the blockbuster campaign before diving into multiplayer and the extraction-based DMZ mode

Plus, pre-ordering the game will also grant early access to the beta, which will drop sometime before launch, but the dates haven’t been revealed yet.
