Modern Warfare 4 DMZ brings brand-new map even bigger than Al Mazrah

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 brings the return of the extraction-based DMZ mode, and it’s bringing a massive new map with dynamic weather.

Of course, MW4 has the franchise’s signature multiplayer and blockbuster campaign, but after three years of Zombies, DMZ will be the third mode for the first time since 2022’s Modern Warfare 2.

It’s a true extraction shooter with a meaningful loot system, a persistent stash to store your items, vendors to unlock, and missions to complete

It takes place in ‘Hajin,’ a brand-new map featuring South Korea, North Korea, and part of Russia. Since this covers a huge area in real life, we’d expect it to be a scaled-down area featuring the three countries as ‘biomes.’

Hajin is even bigger than Al Mazrah, the biggest Warzone map to date, which was the main setting of MW2’s DMZ.

MW4 DMZ Hajin map & POIs revealed

We know the names of several POIs:

  • City
  • Casino
  • Fallout
  • Hospital
  • Military Base
  • Farmlands
  • Prison
  • Broadcast
  • Dead Town

The events of the campaign form this exclusion zone in which DMZ takes place, leaving a war-torn battlefield that’s polluted by radiation. It will also feature dynamic weather, where it can be sunny, rainy, foggy, or snowy. Sometimes a mix of two.

It’s described as a “living world” with enemies patrolling the area, vehicle convoys, and air traffic. You’ll need to navigate both AI enemies and other players if you’re looking to get out with all the loot you’ve collected.

We don’t have any details of what we can expect with Warzone after MW4’s launch, except that it’ll no longer be on Xbox One and PS4, so perhaps this map will also come to battle royale – we’ll just have to wait and see.

In the meantime, you can check out our Modern Warfare 4 wiki for all the campaign and multiplayer details ahead of the October 23 launch.
