Video footage captured the moment a crazed monster truck driver crushed unsuspecting cars and injured people at the annual 'Rednecks with Paychecks' gathering in Saint Jo, Texas.

Jonathan Earl Reid, 36, of Crockett, faces five felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the shocking incident on September 21.

According to witness statements, the terrifying ordeal began when Reid got into a verbal altercation with several individuals after striking a UTV.

The situation escalated quickly when Reid allegedly proclaimed, 'If the vehicle doesn't have an eight-foot flag on it, I can hit it,' KFDX/KJTL reported.

Witnesses described a horrifying scene as Reid allegedly put his monster truck in reverse, slamming into nearby vehicles before shifting into drive and accelerating rapidly 

Angry attendees reportedly began hurling rocks and beer cans at Reid's vehicle, leading him to use the massive monster truck to run over other vehicles and people.

The massive vehicle then struck a Jeep SUV, rolling over the top of it with people scrambling to escape its path.

Reid reportedly continued his rampage, crushing another UTV and striking victims.

In total, five victims were identified, ranging in age from 26 to 67 and hailing from Kansas, Texas, and New Mexico, police told the outlet.

Two of the victims required hospitalization. Their current condition is unclear at this time. 

The incident sparked panic among the crowd, with one 911 caller initially thinking one person had been killed, though authorities have not confirmed any deaths.

Event security managed to detain Reid before law enforcement arrived on the scene.

Police collected at least 21 written statements from witnesses, many of whom identified Reid as the perpetrator.

The Montague County Sheriff's Office reports that Reid was booked into the county jail in the early hours of Saturday morning but was released that same evening after posting bonds totaling $200,000.
