Monster Hunter Wilds destroyed playercount records when it released back in February, but quickly tapered off as players got through the endgame. That is, until the Title 1 update revitalised the adventure and its playerbase.
When Monster Hunter Wilds came out, it hit a peak of over 1.1 million concurrent players on Steam, meaning the playercount was likely much higher among its other platforms. It was a huge success with players diving in to defeat the toughest monsters, create the most unique (and sometimes disturbing) characters, grab the strongest weapons, and just enjoy their battles, be that singleplayer or multiplayer.
Naturally, though, the game began to taper off, with the playercount steadily sitting at anywhere between 40,000 to 50,000 players at any one time. That was until the first major update, known as the Title 1 update, landed.
Monster Hunter Wilds Title 1 update reignites playercount
The Monster Hunter Wilds free Title 1 update has skyrocketed the game’s playerbase, with it jumping from just above 45,000 concurrent players a few hours before the major update to an impressive 381,000 players shortly after it was released, and it’s still growing.

As previously mentioned, these numbers, thanks to Steamdb, are purely reflective of those playing on Steam, so the playercount is expected to be much higher than 381,000, considering its availability on other consoles.
Of course, all this is down to the release of Title 1, which added the first major free update. It introduced a Grand Hub, which serves as an endgame social area, a brand new fan-favorite monster in Mizutsune, an even tougher battle in Arch-tempered Rey Dau, some exciting new quests, and an adorable seasonal event in Festival of Accord: Blossomdance. So, it’s safe to say there’s plenty for players to return to.
The playercount is expected to go even higher than 381,000 as more players around the world dive into the adventure, but it’s clear the love for Monster Hunter Wilds hasn’t dwindled despite the lower playercount going into the Title 1 update.
