A Florida man has been charged with murder after he slammed his truck into the mother of his toddler son.

Edwin Amaya, 32, struck and dragged Brenda Hernandez Amaya, 29, with his Ford F-250 truck following an argument over their two-year-old son's custody on Saturday night in Pompano Beach.

Neighbors captured the terrifying incident in cellphone footage that shows the moment Amaya was fatally struck.

Hernandez Amaya's ex-husband Omar Munguia, 32, was at the scene with friends of the victim and injured as he tried to hang onto Amaya's vehicle.

Amaya also reportedly barreled into several park cars in the attack.

Amaya fled the scene on foot but was later tracked down and arrested

'At some point during the argument, Amaya walked to his Ford F-250 truck, backed up the vehicle and then intentionally put it into drive and struck Hernandez Amaya with the front of his truck,' police said in a statement.

Both Hernandez Amaya and Munguia-Henrique were taken to the hospital where she died, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

Hernandez Amaya's daughter told NBC Miami she witnessed the terrifying ordeal.

'I couldn’t cry. I couldn’t talk. I went down stairs, I started running,' she said.

Amaya fled the scene on foot but was later tracked down and arrested. 

He has been charged with first-degree murder and is expected in court on Monday.

Munguia, the father of Hernandez Amaya's two other kids, told CBS News that Amaya showed up drunk demanding to take his son with him.

'He said 'I'm going to get my gun from the truck and I'll shoot all of you,"' Munguia said.
