Pokemon TCG’s mysterious RGB Mew is reportedly real and could be one of the rarest modern cards ever released, with alleged pull rates of just one in every 20,000 packs.
Pokemon TCG: 30th Celebration launches worldwide on September 16, 2026. The anniversary expansion features an entirely foil card lineup, 30 Pikachu illustrations, classic reprints and the new Futuristic rare rarity.
The Pokemon Company has not officially announced an RGB rarity, but new claims from within the collecting community suggest another secret group of cards is hiding inside the set.
The mystery began when Australian Pokemon seller PokeAus Hits pulled an unfamiliar Mew during a Whatnot livestream on July 25.
The card was pulled for X user Akaneco_2323 and features heavily textured blue artwork, an illustrator credit for YOSHIROTTEN and the designation “B/RGB” instead of a conventional collector number.
Its unusual design, missing anniversary stamp and absence from a leaked checklist led collectors to question whether it was an official card or an elaborate custom placed inside a genuine pack.
As Dexerto previously reported, even footage of the pack being opened could not prove its chain of custody.
Insider claims RGB Mew appears once every 20,000 packs
Pokemon collectibles creator TheCardScience has claimed that an employee at Millennium Print Group personally confirmed the RGB Mew is genuine.
In the video posted to X, TheCardScience displays a photograph of what appears to be a Millennium Print Group employee badge, with the person’s identifying information obscured.
According to the creator, the employee confirmed that the blue RGB Mew owned by Akaneco_2323 is real, that three RGB variations exist and that the cards appear approximately once in every 20,000 packs.
“RGB Mystery Mew is REAL, we have insider information confirming the Mew,” TheCardScience wrote. “There will be 3 of them! With a rarity of 1 in 20,000 packs!”
Millennium Print Group is directly involved in producing Pokemon cards. The company has manufactured Pokemon TCG products since 2015 and became a subsidiary of The Pokemon Company International following a 2022 acquisition.
Its official website says it specializes in producing collectible sports and game cards, with facilities in North Carolina and the Netherlands.
That makes the alleged source considerably more relevant than an unnamed collector or retailer. However, TheCardScience does not reveal the employee’s identity, position or how they obtained information about the set’s card collation. Millennium Print Group and The Pokemon Company have also not publicly confirmed the claim.
If the reported odds are accurate, one in 20,000 would represent a 0.005% chance of finding an RGB Mew in any given pack. It is also unclear whether those odds apply to pulling any of the three variations or each individual card.
The three-card claim would explain the unusual B/RGB designation. Collectors have speculated since the original pull that “B” represents blue, with R/RGB and G/RGB versions completing a collection inspired by the original Pokemon Red, Green and Blue games.
YOSHIROTTEN’s involvement has always made that theory particularly convincing. The artist created the confirmed Futuristic rare Mew ex and Mewtwo ex cards for 30th Celebration and previously produced a body of artwork called PHENOMENON: RGB.
Despite the buyer receiving the physical card and posting high-definition footage on X, collectors may not receive a definitive answer until 30th Celebration releases on September 16.
