The daughter of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Alexandra Pelosi, recently called out former First Lady Jill Biden in a conversation with Politico.  Tension has arisen between Pelosi and the Biden’s in the later months of his term, after Pelosi had reportedly pushed for the president to drop out of the race last summer following a poor debate performance against Donald Trump.

While Pelosi was visiting Luxembourg last month, she sustained a fall, breaking her hip and undergoing emergency surgery.  The former House speaker received an outpouring of support from politicians around the world.  However, she did not hear from Joe and Jill Biden, despite having a near-five decade relationship with the president.

As the feud has dragged on, Pelosi’s daughter had less than pleasant comments about the outgoing first lady.  Alexandra told Politico, “If I was Lady McBiden, I’d put on my big girl pants, play the long game and think about my husband’s legacy.  There aren’t that many people left in America who have something nice to say about Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi is one of them.”

Furthermore, reports indicate that Nancy Pelosi had tried to speak to the president following his late-July decision to withdraw from the presidential race, but had “repeatedly been met with the same response from the president’s top advisers: The answer is no.”  A source familiar with Pelosi claimed, “She’s been told they’re not over it, don’t make more overtures because he’s blaming her.”

Additionally, First Lady Jill Biden spoke with the Washington Post in an exit interview recently where she expressed disappointment in Nancy Pelosi’s alleged role in forcing her husband out of the race.  “It’s been on my mind a lot lately,” she said.  “It’s been on my mind a lot lately.  We were friends for 50 years. It was disappointing…Let’s just say I was disappointed with how it unfolded.”

The American Tribune reported on comments from Pelosi last year following Biden’s withdrawal where she praised the president’s leadership. “He was in a good place to make whatever decision – the top of his game. Such a consequential president of the United States, a Mount Rushmore kind of president of the United States,”’ Pelosi said. “No, I wasn’t the leader of any pressure [campaign].  Let me say things that I didn’t do: I didn’t call one person. I did not call one person. I could always say to him, ‘I never called anybody,”she added denying any role in forcing Biden out.

The American Tribune initially reported on the news that Biden would no longer be pursuing a second term where the president shared on X, “My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”
