A National Lottery winner plans to use her £1.7million jackpot in a selfless act to support her family.

The winner, known only as Mrs S, from Norfolk, scooped up the impressive £1,772,335 jackpot on February 26 after matching all main six numbers in a Lotto draw.

Whilst planning to treat herself on a new car, she also wants to make sure her family also feel the benefits of the win.

Mrs R said she plans on using the jackpot to help her loved ones she told Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery.

A Norfolk woman who won a similar cash prize this time last year decided to spend her winnings on something much more unusual.

The woman, known only as Mrs G, won £1m after matching five main numbers and the bonus ball in the Lotto draw on April 13, 2024.

In an unusual move, the woman decided to splash her cash on a lawnmower as her first purchase.

However, she did say she has bigger ambitions to buy a bungalow.

Lottery winners have the opportunity to release their names, remain anonymous or like Mrs R and Mrs G, release some details through partial publicity.

Mrs G’s lawnmower purchase was more outlandish than HGV driver Lee Kuchczynski's, from Kendal, Cumbria, who bought a £17 backscratcher after winning a EuroMillions draw.

The National Lottery has awarded more than £95billion in prizes and created more than 7,400 millionaires since its launch in 1994.
