An international tournament … it’s the only way.

Adam Silver, the commissioner of the NBA, is having a hard time getting people interested in his league, especially when it comes to All-Star Weekend. I mean, hell, do you care about it?

Yeah, exactly.

I remember a point in time when you had to tune into All-Star Weekend because you just knew it was going to be fire. Nowadays, hardly anybody is watching, and it shows in the ratings as the 2025 edition of the ASG brought in the second-lowest ratings in history for the once-iconic event. The 2025 NBA All-Star Game tallied just 4.7 million viewers, recording a 13% decline from 2024.

Things are so bad that even Silver is admitting that the current All-Star format sucks, doing so at the league meetings that recently took place in New York.

“I thought we made almost an immeasurable amount of progress — sitting there, I thought this was a little better — but it was a miss,” said Silver.

There’s only one solution to the NBA‘s All-Star misery, and it’s an international tournament, and no, I’m not talking about this trash…

“People floated US vs the world but I’m not sure that makes sense… to lump all the countries together.”
