CV NEWS FEED // Bishop James Conley of Lincoln, Nebraska, is holding a Eucharistic procession around the Nebraska State Capitol two days before the presidential election.
According to a post on Bishop Conley’s X account, the Eucharistic adorers will “plead for the life of the preborn” through their prayers and witness. This year, Nebraska has two competing ballot measures regarding abortion restrictions, as CatholicVote previously reported.
The procession will take place on Sunday, November 3, at 3 p.m. The announcement includes instructions for the laity, priests, and altar servers about where to organize for the procession.
As CatholicVote previously covered, Bishop Conley has condemned Nebraska’s “Protect the Right to Abortion” amendment, which would enshrine abortion as a right in the state constitution.
He said the ballot measure “will ensure unregulated, late pregnancy abortions, force taxpayers to fund abortions, and threaten decades of common sense health and safety measures.”
He urged Nebraskans to vote and to join in praying the Sacred Heart Novena, saying prayer and the right to vote are “powerful weapons.”
“Voters in our state are facing a dangerous and deceptive amendment to the Constitution,” Bishop Conley said. “We must join to defeat it.”
Nebraska has a competing ballot measure, the “Protect Women and Children” amendment, which would enshrine Nebraska’s 12-week abortion ban in the state constitution.
