CV NEWS FEED // Tom Homan met with Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday at the state’s border with Mexico, where the soon-to-be border czar reiterated President-elect Donald Trump’s promise to “finish the job” of ending the country’s humanitarian migrant crisis.

FOX News reported that “Homan and Abbott served meals to Texas National Guard soldiers and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers” in the border city of Eagle Pass, Texas.

“For the last four years, I wake up every morning pissed off about what this administration did to the most secure border of my lifetime,” said Homan, who is set to take the reins of the incoming Trump administration’s border security policy in January.

Homan, a Catholic, pointed out that he worked in immigration enforcement for the federal government under six presidents: Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Trump.

“Every president I worked for took steps to secure the border,” the career law enforcement officer explained. “They understood you can’t have strong national security if you don’t have border security.”

“No one did better than President Trump,” Homan emphasized, adding that Trump secured “this border at a level we never seen before.”

“Illegal immigration was down to a 45-year low” and “down between 83 and 90 percent,” Homan noted. “Unprecedented success.”

“Joe Biden is the first president in the history of this nation who came into office and unsecured the border on purpose,” Homan continued. “This isn’t mismanagement. This isn’t incompetence. This is by design.”

“The first morning I woke up with a smile on my face was the day after the election when President Trump won,” Homan said.

In his second term, Homan said, Trump is “going to finish the job he started” during his first.

Homan also praised Trump’s nominee to lead the Department of Homeland Security, Republican South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.

“I’ve met with her numerous times,” Homan said. “She’s the right person at the right time for the right job. She gets it. She has a lot of great ideas of her own.”

Homan said that Abbott “has done an amazing job” in securing Texas’ border. He further expressed that the Lone Star state’s model of reducing illegal migration is one that can be replicated across the country.

“It’s a shame that the taxpayers of Texas have to spend billions of dollars to do the job that this administration failed to do – didn’t want to do,” Homan said, also noting that the Biden administration’s migrant crisis “overwhelms the border patrol.”

“Because the border patrol is so overwhelmed taking care of this humanitarian crisis, many of them are pulled off the line,” he said. “And what happens then? Six hundred percent increase in sex trafficking.”

“Over two million known ‘gotaways,’” Homan continued:

How many of them come from a country sponsoring terror? How many of them were carrying fentanyl? How many of them were sex trafficking women and children? How many of them were gang members? It’s more than just illegal immigration.

Again commending Texas for its efforts to secure the border, often in opposition to the Biden administration, Homan pointed out that “for every ounce of fentanyl your troopers seize,” there “are less overdose deaths. For every person you arrest for trespassing and put them through a fingerprinting process, that’s one less ‘gotaway.’”

“What you’ve done is not only protect the state of Texas and the citizens of Texas, you are protecting this nation,” he stated.

Homan said it’s a shame that there are other governors and mayors “who right out of the gate are saying they’re going to push back on President Trump and what we’re trying to do.”

“Let me be clear,” Homan added. “There is going to be a mass deportation. Because we just finished a mass illegal immigration crisis on the border.”

The longtime border patrol agent explained that if illegal migrants are allowed to stay in the country in massive numbers, “you will never fix the border,” and instead “send a message to the rest of the world: ‘Enter the country illegally,’ which is a crime, ‘ignore court order, you never have to go home.’”

Under the Biden-Harris administration, the U.S. has been “telling the whole world it’s okay to enter the country illegally, you never got to go home,” Human summarized. But now: “We’re a nation of laws, and we’re going to enforce the laws.”
