FBI Deputy Assistant Director Christopher Raia confirmed Thursday that Shamsud-Din Jabbar acted alone in the horrific New Year’s Eve truck attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, which killed 15 people and left dozens more injured.
Speaking to reporters Thursday morning, Raia called the incident an “act of terrorism” and a “premeditated and evil act.”
He said Jabbar rented a Ford F-150 truck in Houston and drove to New Orleans, posting five videos on social media proclaiming his support for Islamic terror group ISIS between 1:29 a.m. and 3:02 a.m.
He also said Jabbar had drafted a last will and testament, and that investigators have recovered two laptops and three phones so far.
Raia also said there was “no definitive link” between the attack in New Orleans and the Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside a Trump hotel in Las Vegas, despite tangential links between the suspects in both attacks.
